Dad's voice has been hoarse and szesiang initiated a visit to the doctor, especially with a sabah trip for dad coming up this weekend.
The ENT doctor was really professional, and i love doctors who bother to explain to patients n kins on what they are doing and why. Dr Chao at NUH ENT. She diagnosed that my dad's right vocal cord is paralysed - does not close well, thus causing the hoarse voice. It seems that the left vocal cord is 'compensating' well for the gap and no action is required at this stage. Suspicion on a tumour in the brain pressing on the nerve to channel the voice. so that's two nerves pressed in the right brain - eye and voice. suspected third nerve for hearing. suggested IV chemo, which we all dread, no decision made yet. intuition tells me i should just let dad go for the trip and really hope nothing happens there.
things should get tougher from here.
