Consistency vs mundane

mundane = sian, consistency = built in, stable and enjoyable.

triggered by the security guard who sits at the car park entrance in her uniform and just stoning. it looked mundane to me; i wonder if she felt sian. i think abt my job and i wonder if it makes me sian or gives me consistency to allow me to do what i want in a stable envt. haven't quite decided. i do feel that someone's consistency could be another's mundane. we all hv different interests and concerns.

the most impt characteristic of a leader is to be consistent - that the followers can look to for directions.

Movie #5 Invictus features the President of South Africa as a real consistent and inspirational leader (in the movie at least).

he was un-tiresome in greeting ppl. thanking them for coming the distance to meet him. PoWow. humble and respectful. the greatest leader is the smallest servant. i'll rem how he greeted the lady who brought in the tea, and wanted to pour tea for the captain himself. president pour tea for you, beat that.

he was asked about how he used to support every team that played against South Africa's national rugby team Springboks, his reply:
i change when circumstances change, otherwise i can't expect others to do the same.

his family: the 43 million south africans.

my fave part is when he wanted to undo the unanimous vote to change the Springboks cos they were underperforming aka cui. his secretary warned him against doing so, as it risks his political leadership/career.
"the day i fear risking that, i should not lead."
to his people, "you have elected me to lead; let me lead you. who is with me~?"

forgiveness of the guys who threw u into prison and hostile to your family and people. reconciliation.

Stand, when all you want to do is lie down.

Keep believing, keep leading, untiresome. Consistency to the people. if all this is not built-in, habitual/发自内心, i really dun think it can last. it'll be human efforts, pretense, and eventually draining... Inspirational~

i honestly think that Morgan Freeman delivered the role perfectly. Loved the little jiggle he did when Springboks won their opening match against the Aussies :D

so it's our 5th movie and all at vivo hahah.

by now, he dun even bother to ask me abt the time and place. 直接先斩后奏alr liao~ "...anw, tmr 6.35pm movie. book liao" my guess is that we are catching the movie at vivo, yes it's a guess that i realised (now) i didn't even check with him. hah. heng correct~ default alr? :D

one of the least stressful nights of the year. i dunno what i've been stressed with also... but it felt ultra relax tonite.

if i ever end up as a teacher, i'll have Gene to blame/thank. his little stories about the students, motivating them, befriending them and going beyond the academics restore some of the little aspirations and faith that i have :)
